Dr. Irina Cotanis holds an M.S. and an Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, and a score card of more than 20 years of experience in wireless and radio communications systems, statistical signal processing and analysis, and statistics, as well as more than of 10 years as active member in standardization organizations, and of more than 100 publications, (e.g. IEEE conference papers, presentations, seminars, standards and student books).
Dr. Irina Cotanis high qualified competence is focusing on evaluating technical trends and requirements imposed by the 3G –WCDMA and 4G/LTE-SON Next Generation Networks evolution on network optimization and benchmarking as well as network and services quality assurance (QoS/QoE) management. She uses her expertise in voice, video, audio and multimedia QoS and QoE models to develop techniques and mechanisms that help TEMS products to efficiently serve operators by lowering their network CAPEX/OPEX costs while increasing the service quality experienced by subscribers.
Dr. Irina Cotanis work in the international standardization as well as her knowledge and understanding of the standardization’s strategies, not only earns TEMS recognized technical reputation among these organizations, but also it benefits TEMS business interests.
Dr. Cotanis work covers three main areas: field measurements and advanced data analysis techniques, QoE models and metrics, and network and services quality assurance as experienced by subscribers (QoS/QoE). On all these topics she presented to different TEMS seminars and also wrote several technical and white papers, application notes targeting different network operators and service providers.
Lately, since SON concept took shape and form within different standardization bodies (e.g. ETSI/3gpp, itu), Dr. Cotanis’ work concentrates on developing models for autonomic measurements dedicated to assist self diagnosing networks, with the possibility for self healing and eventually self configuring, based on various machine learning techniques and stochastic decision mechanisms.
Last, but not least, Dr. Irina Cotanis earned during the years international recognition as patent author as well as author of standards, technical specification and several white paper contributions to International Telecommunication Union – Study group 12 (Performance, QoS and QoE), Video Quality Expert Group (VQEG) and European Telecommunications Standards Institute. She published more than 50 papers in international technical conference proceedings (IEEE) and acted as reviewer to IEEE journals articles and international conferences papers.
